PROJECT OVERVIEW
Loomis Elementary is the first new school building in Saginaw County in over 20 years. It also is the first school to meet the new fire codes and regulations required by the State of Michigan.

This project was completed in two phases to allow for the completion of the school year in May 2006 and the start-up in September 2006. With a very restricted site due to existing buildings still in use, the Sorensen Gross team took an expected fifteen-month project and completed it in eight months. This contributed to the project coming in at approximately $1,000,000 under budget.

This building is a true masonry building with load-bearing walls. There is terrazzo throughout the building, which is also unusual. Phase II of the project was completed just three months after the completion of the school year. This included the complete demolition of the existing building, asbestos removal and the owner moving out until completion. With proper planning, project management, supervision and extreme teamwork, the construction team accomplished the task as presented.
